EXPERIENCE

Amina received a Bachelor of Science at Skidmore College in Theater as well as a minor in Spanish Language. Over the last six years, she has worked as an executive functioning coach at Private Prep and New Frontiers. She has co-led Stress Management Workshops for teachers at HeartShare Early Education Centers in New York using exercises focused on pinpointing and relieving stressors, and bonding with coworkers. During her time studying abroad in Spain, Amina was an English Teacher at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), where she created lesson plans incorporating games, conversation topics, and activities for Spanish university students. More recently she worked as a full-time Arts Teacher/Au Pair in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she taught theater and created a curriculum for children between 7 and 12 years old, including activities such as theater games, improvisational games, making shadow puppets and costumes, and singing songs from musicals.

She has held other positions that include working as an office assistant, attorney’s assistant, script translator, waitress, caterer, retail salesperson, camp counselor, babysitter, and more. Though these are not all related to tutoring and teaching, she has learned immensely from all of these positions, and uses her experiences in her sessions with clients to better understand and support them in their current or potential employment searches.

Amina is also passionate about jazz singing and acting in theatre and film. She toured 19 states in the U.S. with a theater troupe called The Leastaways on a short school bus, performing a play called “West of Elsewhere” 38 times in 49 days. She has acted in over 15 short films, a television pilot, and numerous plays. She has experience in producing, marketing, playwriting, directing, composing, acting, and graphic design.

WHY SHOULD YOU WORK WITH AMINA?

She is an excellent listener and great questioner. Her performance studies and her experience powering through the same challenges that her students face give her a deep understanding of the issues facing young people of all genders today. She is a self-care fanatic and is always seeking ways to approach life through a positive lens and finding tools and methods to help her and her students achieve their life-long goals.
